I met the artist Howard Hodgkin on my 50th birthday at his studio and took this snap of his floor which I love for the memory of the man and his work without exploiting copyright. Born in 1932 Howard Hodgkin died in March 2017. He was passionate about his work and spent hours in his studio embracing colour with a powerful impact.

This exhibition shows his last decade where he painted on wood, the textures and colour his hallmarks filled with expansive expression.

The final six paintings he made in a five week trip to India before he died show extraordinary depth and vivid expression. He shows his skill and his freedom to communicate through colour and texture, his work is bold and leaves tingles up my spine. A must see exhibition open until July 28th 2018
