The Ned has made a huge impact on the City from dawn ‘till dusk. The hub of the City now has a great hotel which is part of Soho House group. They have outstanding restaurants – and every whim is catered for,  it’s a vibrant and happening place with the chicest rooms in the Square Mile. Their bedrooms are decorated in 1920 designs. Staying on a Sunday night last week was a great luxury. Having lunch on the roof terrace in the weak afternoon sun, with St Pauls Cathedral as a backdrop we tucked into a delicious long lunch to celebrate my father’s 83rd birthday and all of his favourite things… with a twist – let’s just shake it up!  G&T with cucumber (clearly a slice of lemon was out of the question), followed by the tenderest steak and then sage panacotta for pudding. Always adventurous and up for it!

We took a “Cosy” room which was so thoughtfully designed and had all the touches of Soho House with their House Cocktails in the fridge, sumptuous Cowshed products in the highly effective rainforest shower which made me want to redecorate and get the plumber in at home immediately. Wendy our Labrador slept soundly in a snug dog basket – she took full advantage of the room service and  I had a dreamless sleep in the most divine bed. A swift swim in the 20 meter midnight blue pool in the morning and a steam before a 4 minute walk to the office really set me up for the week.
