Digby finds talent for Investment Banks, Asset/Fund Managers, Private Equity firms, Hedge Funds and Family Offices.

My alarm goes off…

At 05:30 I get up, leaving home at 06:30 to be at my desk 07:15. I get in early to pick up overnight emails and start having conversations with candidates before they go to work.

I’m responsible for…

Sourcing talent, interviewing candidates, introducing them to clients and managing the interview/recruitment process all the way through to offer negotiation and contract signing. I specialise in recruiting investment professionals.

I got the job…

I came to Aldrich & Co without a career plan, seeking inspiration for opportunities within financial services. After a few interviews with top investment firms (through Aldrich & Co) that weren’t quite right at that stage in my career, a position as a Recruitment Coordinator became available at Aldrich & Co and I jumped at the opportunity. I had seen first-hand the excellent top-tier clients that we have, and had had a brilliant experience with Aldrich & Co during my search. After various interviews, I was offered the role and joined in 2017, eventually progressing to become a Recruitment Consultant.

My typical day…

Starts early. I often interview candidates before they go to work. Between around 09:30 and 12:00, I source new candidates for the various vacancies we are working on. Then around lunchtime, I start interviewing again before working on projects for clients and admin in the afternoon.

My most memorable moment…

Securing a role for a brilliant Operations Manager at a Hedge Fund with 100% increase on her previous basic salary was particularly memorable; but every placement I have made stays in my mind and motivates me for the next one.

The worst part of my job…

Working with people.  A career move is an important, daunting and personal matter for anyone and working with people on such a personal level certainly has its challenges, especially as we work so closely with our candidates.

The best part of my job…

Working with people! And helping them to secure excellent jobs. We are a very ambitious and commercial organisation but there’s nothing more rewarding than delivering the news that you have helped someone to get their ‘dream job’.

Advice for anyone looking to do the same…

Find a sector that you are interested in and learn about the market. Find the specialist recruiters that focus on that area and send them your CV. There don’t tend to be many formalised barriers to entry like certificates or qualifications but you will need excellent people skills, tenacity, positivity and an excellent work ethic.

After work…

I am studying for a BSc in Financial Economics part-time in the evenings at Birkbeck College (University of London) so that takes up 2-3 evenings a week during term time. Aside from that, I’m a huge Fulham FC fan and often go to mid-week games after work in the evenings. I also love reading, eating out with friends, going to the opera/ballet and playing squash. I have also taken up running – Aldrich & Co participated in the City vs Wharf 5k run on the 12th of September 2019.

My plan B…

I would have loved to become a professional racing driver!
